November 2016 News Letter
Parents & Students,
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween, and are now settled into a routine with your busy schedules.
As the cold and wet weather approaches, please place all wet shoes on the boot trays in the lobby and avoid walking throughout the facility with wet shoes for the safety of our dancers and families. It is extremely important to put student’s names on all belongings especially inside or on the bottom of their dance shoes. Students leave items behind or accidentally pick up other dancers’ shoes and it’s important to return all items to the correct student. As always, attendance is extremely important. Please call or email to notify us if a dancer will be absent. Our new dance studio direct line phone number is: (518) 982-1768. Email: [email protected] We do not offer makeup classes. Each class has different combinations and choreography.
Registration for our 2016-2017 dance season ends November 14th and class transfers are no longer permitted after this date as our classes will begin learning combinations that will be implemented into their routines that they will be performing in our annual recital. Because registration is closed and we’ve secured a spot for your dancer(s) any drops from a class December 1st on will need to compete a drop form and pay a $25 drop fee. This will discontinue your auto-pay monthly tuition fees.
SAVE THE DATES: Our 2017 Recital weekend is June 23-24 at Ballston Spa High School. Full dress rehearsal (no viewing allowed) Friday June 23rd 4:30-8. Recital Saturday June 24th 2pm. Specific check in times and details will be provided in the upcoming newsletters. Our new finale rehearsal & company photo date is June 10th 2017 - 1-2:30 p.m. This is a mandatory rehearsal for all recital performers. ***We are aware this is Shenendehowa’s graduation weekend. These were the only dates available to us. If you have a conflict with the rehearsal on Friday (graduation day) due to the graduation, please let us know.
RECITAL COSTUMES: All students will be measured for costumes during the month of December. I always add inches to each measurement for growth. There is ONE (1) costume for each recreational class. Each class will get a performance costume, one pair of performance tights, and their finale shirt. The costume fee is $85. Each additional class costume (if your dancer is in more than one class) is $60. It is recommended for students to purchase an additional “back up” pair of tights ($8 each additional pair) in case the first pair gets damaged. All students must purchase their class costumes in order to participate in our recital. In addition, dancers must have the proper style of dance shoes purchased through WCD. All costume payments are due on or before December 15th. All costumes will need to be ordered the following day as it takes a while to receive them. No add-ons, returns or exchanges after this date. If alterations need to be made, you will be responsible for that. *This does NOT pertain to dance teams. I will provide specific costume forms/fees to each dance team. Dance team fees are also due by December 15th.
CLASS NAMES: Each season our classes receive a special “Class Name”, which will be posted in January. It is important for our students and parents to know the class name(s) as this is how we refer to the dancers for all security check-ins/out, and in our program for the recital.
CLOSINGS: We follow the Shenendehowa School District closings for weather for our morning classes. If Shen schools are closed or delayed, our morning classes will be cancelled. However, many times driving conditions will clear up in the late afternoon. We will send out an email, as well as post on our Web and Facebook page by 3pm, if we need to close for unsafe weather conditions for our evening classes.
November 24-26th for Thanksgiving. Classes resume Monday November 28th.
